DAY 1
Arrival in Vilnius
Upon arrival, transfer and accommodation in a 4-Star hotel.
DAY 2
Vilnius – Trakai – Kernavė – Vilnius
Morning excursion in the historic Vilnius Old Town including the Vilnius Cathedral and its square, the complex of Vilnius University, Pilies street containing historical, as well as, architectural monuments, which date back to the 16th-18th century, the Gothic corner of Vilnius with St. Anne’s and Bernardine churches, the former Town Hall square, the Gate of Dawn possessing a miraculous icon of Virgin Mary, and the 17th century Baroque church of St. Peter and Paul famous for its exceptional all-white interior. In the afternoon, a tour of Trakai will take place beginning with a degustation of the traditional cuisine of Karaims, adherents of Karaite Judaism brought to Lithuania by the Grand Duke Vytautas from Crimea This town is the ancient capital of Lithuania located 28 km from Vilnius. Trakai is most well-known for its alluring 14th-15th century castle, the only castle in all of Eastern Europe that is situated on an island, where exhibitions of prehistoric findings, as well as, the 17th-18th century art depicting the way of life of the Lithuanian Grand Dukes and Karaims, are being held. A brief trip to Kernavė – the first capital of Lithuania. Accommodation in a 4-Star hotel in Vilnius.
DAY 3
Vilnius – Kaunas
Departure from Vilnius to Kaunas, the Interwar period capital of Lithuania, and the Pažaislis Monastery, the pearl of all Eastern European baroque. Dinner in a traditional Lithuanian restaurant with authentic dishes and an opportunity to engross yourself in the Lithuanian heritage with participation in a folklore performance. The later afternoon is free time for souvenirs and relaxation. Accommodation in a 4-Star hotel in Kaunas.
DAY 4
Kaunas – Mingė – Curonian Spit – Klaipėda
Leaving Kaunas for Klaipėda and Kuršių Nerija/Curonian Spit, which contains an awe-inspiring landscape and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The route follows the bank of the Nemunas River, which designs a thrilling sense of adventure as if you are a part of a Travel Channel program. The magnificence of castles and palaces will be for you to absorb. Afternoon arrival in Mingė for a traditional fishermen lunch followed by a boat trip to the Curonian Spit. The Curonian Spit is a 98 km long, thin, curved sand-dune spit that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea coast. Authentic fishermen houses along the way will give you a rustic feeling of days long gone. Tours in Nida and Juodkrantė, small-scale angler villages, which are popular holiday destinations for Lithuanians and foreigners alike. Late afternoon excursion in Klaipėda. Accommodation in a 4-Star hotel in Curonian Spit or Klaipėda.
DAY 5
Klaipėda – Hill of Crosses – Rundale Palace – Riga
Departure to Riga with en route stop at the Hill of Crosses, a unique place of national pilgrimage, and after crossing the border of Latvia, the imposing baroque residence – Rundale Palace, which was created by the Italian architect B. Rastrelli. Close to Rundale you will experience traditional Latvian cuisine in a farmstead. Late afternoon arrival in Riga will begin with a tour of the Old Town of Riga featuring its most renowned architectural monuments: 13th century St. Peter’s Church, St. George’s Church, St. John’s Church, 14th century Riga Castle, Big and Small Guild houses, medieval dwelling houses “Three Brothers” and the Dome Square with its distinguished Dome Cathedral boasting one of the biggest pipe organs in Europe. For the final addition to this engaging and remarkable day – an alluring dinner in a medieval 13th century underground restaurant, which is lit solely by candles. Accommodation in a 4-Star hotel.
